Scientists of the National Mining University participated in the International Forum "Energy supply and energy efficiency"
On September 21-27, 2015, International Forum "Energy supply and energy efficiency" was held in Baku supported by German Federal Foreign Office. The forum was attended by scientists from four higher educational institutions: Brandenburg Technical University of Cottbus-Senftenberg, Azerbaijan Technical University, National Mining University and Moscow Power Engineering University.
The forum was introduced by Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University – Prof. Dr. Havar Mammadov emphasized the importance of joint efforts to achieve energy efficiency as an essential element of sustainable development, wished scientists success in discussing complex issues as security and rational use of natural resources.
Ukrainian scientists have made a number of reports devoted to the modern energy problems in Ukraine, the problem of introducing voluntary standards on energy efficiency, issues of social responsibility and social accountability, as well as to issues of implementation of energy efficiency ideas in educational programs of various specialties at universities. Azerbaijani colleagues presented participants modern laboratories of Azerbaijan Technical University and talked about plans for further development in science and education.
Scientists were invited to the presentation of the pilot project TEMPUS, dedicated to international accreditation programs for bachelors and masters of various specializations in the field of electrical engineering and environmental engineering. The presentation was attended by senior officials of the Azerbaijani and German competent authorities.
Of particular interest was visit to Sumgait Technologies Park, the largest project of non-oil sector in Azerbaijan. In technopark scientists were introduced to the work of cable plant, workshops for solar collectors production, hot dip galvanizing plant and other industrial enterprises.
The delegation of the National Mining University highly appreciated friendliness, tolerance and respect for human values, expressed confidence that undertaken efforts will lay the foundation for strengthening scientific cooperation between participating universities. Sincere gratitude is expressed to German Federal Foreign Office for its financial support of the event, to Brandenburg Technical University of Cottbus-Senftenberg, especially to Prof. Dr. Sylvio Simon – for the excellent organization of the conference, to Azerbaijan Technical University, represented by Rector of AzTU Prof. Dr. Havar Mammadov, to Dr. А. Mammadov and Dr. F. Amirov – for their warm welcome and hospitality. The Forum ended with the proposal to create a partner network that will facilitate the regular exchange of scientific and professional development of teachers and academics of partner universities, and the development of ideas through the implementation of energy efficiency in educational programs for students in different areas of specialization.
